The parable of the Ten Virgins gives us a peek into one of the customs leading up to the wedding, but that is about all. The wedding garment, conspicuous and distinctive, represents a person's righteousness. It symbolizes the habit of sincerity, repentance, humility, and obedience. It replaces the street clothes that stand for the habits of pride, rebellion, and sinfulness.

The guests that refused to come to the banquet, or the ones that were too busy, or the one that wouldn't wear the proper clothes, wanted to do things their own way.
